I'm not "oblivious to this fact" - I don't think that it _is_ a fact. I've been riding many years and I really don't see how making constant loud noise would have helped me much. Your motorcycle already has a noise-making device specifically designed for getting a cager's attention - it's called a 'horn'.
If you seriously think that having a loud exhaust is a good idea, then what's to stop _all_ vehicles from running a loud exhaust? Does that mean that mini-vans, school buses, and the guy next-door with the Chevette should all be running more open, louder exhausts too? They get into accidents too - shouldn't they drive around making more noise so other drivers will notice them too?
There's only one piece of safety equipment that will really keep you out of an accident: it's the grey lump of meat between your ears.
